Barbara Heck

RUCKLE BARBARA (Heck) b. Bastian Ruckle (Sebastian) and Margaret Embury, daughter of Bastian Ruckle (Republic of Ireland) married Paul Heck (1760 in Ireland). The couple had seven children of which four survived childhood.

Typically, the person who is being profiled has either been an important participant in a significant event or made a unique proposition or statement which has been recorded. Barbara Heck however left no notes or letters, and the evidence for such matters in relation to the day of her wedding is secondary. The main documents used by Heck to explain her motivations and actions were lost. In spite of this she gained fame during the early days of Methodism. It's the job of the biographer to describe the legend of this particular case as well as to present the actual person enshrined therein.

The Methodist historian Abel Stevens wrote in 1866. Barbara Heck is now unquestionably one of the pioneer women in the time of New World ecclesiastical women, thanks to the progress achieved by Methodism. The magnitude of her record must chiefly consist of the naming of her valuable name based on the past of the famous causes with which her legacy will be forever linked more through the events of her lives. Barbara Heck played a lucky part in the founding of Methodism and Methodism, both in the United States and Canada. Her name is well-known for her way in which successful organizations and movements tend to celebrate their beginnings.
